SUMMARY:Series Concert - No. 5 – British Baroque-ish
DESCRIPTION:St Matthew’s Episcopal Church\, a beautifully quaint church in charming Hillsborough\, is the perfect venue for a program of early music from Great Britain. From the baroque to early classical eras\, the evening’s concert\, BRITISH BAROQUE-ISH\, will include pieces by Handel\, Henry Purcell\, William Flackton and Andreas Lidel. Featuring the talents of Gail Ann Schroeder\, viola da gamba; Suzanne Rousso\, viola; Stephanie Vial\, cello; and Barbara Weiss\, harpsichord. The final concert of the 2018/19 Season will take place on Thursday\, May 30\, 2019 at 7:30 pm. This program is presented in partnership with Asheville Baroque Concerts. \nProgram\nSonata No. 3 in D minor from Sonnata’s of III Parts\, 1683 – Henry Purcell (c.1659-1695)\nSonata IV in C major from Six solos for two violoncellos – Andrea Caporale (1700-1746)\nDivertimento No. 2 in G major – Andreas Lidl (c.1740-c.1789)\nDuetto No. 11 in G major from the Second Pembroke Collection – Carl Friedrich Abel (1723-1787)\nSonata No. 4 in C major from 3 Sonatas for Viola and Cello\, Op. 2 – William Flackton (1709-1798)\nDivertimento No. 7 in G major – Andreas Lidl \nTickets: $25/ $5 children and students.
