SUMMARY:NC HIP MUSIC FESTIVAL CONCERT: Biber Bowl Revisited in Raleigh
DESCRIPTION:As the opening event for the 2023 North Carolina HIP Music Festival\, Mallarme presents the music of Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber. Biber was a master of stringed instruments and wrote the 15 Mystery Sonatas that chronicle the life of Christ through music for violin and continuo. Mallarme presented this collection of sonatas in February 2016 to great acclaim\, and is “revisiting” the music of Biber including one sonata from the Mystery sonatas plus works from Harmonia artificioso-ariosa (1696)\, Sonata tam aris quam aulis servientes (1676)\, Mensa sonora (1680) and Fidicinium sacro profanum (1682/3). \nThis performance will be presented twice – in Raleigh on February 4\, 3:00 pm @ Christ Church and again in Durham\, on February 5\, 3:00 pm @ St Paul’s Lutheran Church. \nREAD THE CONCERT PROGRAM \nARTISTS\nMartie Perry and David Wilson – violin\nJoey O’Donnell and Suzanne Rousso – viola\nStephanie Vial– cello\, Jennifer Streeter – harpsichord\nKathryn Adduci – trumpet\, Daniel Swenberg – theorbo\, David Faircloth – baritone \nKathryn Adduci’s appearance is supported by Kathy and Lex Silbiger \nPROGRAM\nSonata IV a Cinque from Sonatae Tam Aris Quam Aulis Servientes\nSonata III in F Major (1681)\, C. 140 for violin and continuo\nRosary Sonata No. 2 “The Visitation” for violin and continuo\nHarmonia Artificiosa-Ariosa in A Major\, Partia III for two violins and continuo\nMensa Sonora\, Pars III in A Minor\, C.71\nSerenade a Cinque “Night Watchman”\nSonata a Six (c. 1673) \nSingle tickets: $30/ $15/$10 PURCHASE \nTo purchase tickets for the Sunday\, Feb 5 Biber Bowl concert in Durham Click here \nAlso accepted for entry are 2023 HIPster passes and Mallarme Chamber Players subscriptions.
