Mallarmé musicians have a reputation for being engaging and dynamic, whether we're making bamboo flutes with a classroom of third-graders or performing classical music for an entire student body in an auditorium. Our residencies and educational concerts are designed with input from each school or community with whom we work. We engage children in our programs through active participation. Our residencies are curriculum-based in the subjects of history, culture and literature. Through these residencies and performances we use music to communicate, educate and inspire our audiences. In the 2011-12 school year we will be offering:

Yi Sun, erhu
Asian music concert 3-09
- Renaissance Dance and Music program (grades K-12)
- A bamboo flute making/ Asian culture residency or workshop (grades 3-8)
- Singing/ Songwriting workshop with Shana Tucker, cellist and singer of CHAMBERSOUL (grades 2-12)
- Physics of Sound workshop with trumpeter Don Eagle (grades 2-8)
- Timeless Tales and Music Concert - Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Emperor’s New Clothes
Papa Bear is the cello, Mama Bear is the viola, and Baby Bear is the violin. Goldilocks is the oboe, and the piano ties it all together in this jazzy, funny version of the beloved fairy tale. Students will be introduced to various musical instruments, musical styles and forms. The program incorporates reading literature, creativity and storytelling. (grades K-6)
Master Classes, Clinics and Sectionals: Mallarmé artists and guest artists routinely go into schools and work with students of all ages either one-on-one or in groups. If you would like a special artist or are looking for assistance in a specific instrument or skill, most of our musicians have extensive teaching experience.
