2012 Chamber Music Seminars for Adults
March 1-May 1, 2012 location: various
Here is an opportunity for those who enjoy playing chamber music to do so with the guidance of friendly and experienced professional musicians, under the auspices of Mallarmé Chamber Players.
Interested individual musicians, at least 18 years old, who play strings, wind, brass instruments, harp and piano at an intermediate or higher level (no beginners, please) may apply individually as well as in pre-formed groups. Groups will be organized and repertoire will be assigned according to level and preference and coaches matched with ensembles. In some cases coaches may play as part of the ensemble.
Ensembles will receive five - 90 minute coaching sessions between the dates of March 1 - May 1, 2012. Dates and times of the sessions are to be determined in coordination with the group and their coach. The group will be required to meet at least once in-between coachings to rehearse. Each group will have opportunities to participate in a master class and/or an informal performance during the course of the seminar. The schedule and location for each group will be determined to accommodate members’ schedules.
Seminar costs $175/ person which includes 5 coaching sessions, 2 tickets to the April 1, 2012 The Viola (is not a joke) Concert and a master class and/or performance opportunity.
Past coaches include violinists - Carol Chung, Claudia Warburg and Eric Pritchard; violists - Yoram Youngerman, Suzanne Rousso and Jonathan Bagg; flutist - Anna Wilson; trombonist - Mike Kris; pianist -Tom Warburton, among others.
